MEET THE AUTHOR

LaShawn Toney is a published author, speaker, advocate, and nonprofit founder whose courageous voice is transforming the conversation around autism and caregiving. A devoted wife and mother of four, LaShawn’s life took an unexpected turn when her youngest daughter, Jorgia, was diagnosed with both autism and cystic fibrosis. What began as a deeply personal journey quickly became a mission to support, encourage, and empower other families navigating similar challenges.

LaShawn’s heartfelt memoir, J.O.R.G.I.A.: Journey Of a Real Gift Inside Autism, offers a raw and honest look into the everyday realities behind parenting a child with complex medical and developmental needs. Through her writing, she shares not only the difficulties — moments of fear, frustration, and exhaustion — but also the joy, resilience, and deep love that have shaped her family’s life.

Her work goes beyond storytelling; it’s a bridge for connection. LaShawn has spoken at community events and author talks, sharing her experiences to let other parents know they are seen, heard, and understood. Her second book, Don’t Bully Me Because I’m Different, further reflects her commitment to raising awareness about acceptance and kindness.

In addition to her written work, LaShawn connects with families worldwide through her social media presence and the Jorgia’s Journey YouTube channel, where she documents real moments of growth, challenge, and joy. Her transparency and authenticity have made her a trusted voice in the neurodiversity and caregiver communities.

LaShawn is also the founder of JORGIA’S IMPACT FOUNDATION, a nonprofit dedicated to autism awareness, parental support, and community education. Through this organization, she champions greater understanding, accessible resources, and the kind of compassionate support that every family deserves.

Above all, LaShawn’s story is one of unwavering love. She believes that while autism may change the way a family communicates and connects with the world, it also opens hearts in ways many never anticipate — proving that through challenge comes growth, connection, and profound insight.
